I think I mentioned in a post a week or so ago that I had bought a new table for my studio. I can't believe what a difference this has made! It feels totally different in here now. I really hated the crappy, wobbly, little table I had in here before but really didn't think it bothered me to that degree. Apparently it did. So we went to Ikea and I finally bought the table I had been eyeing for quite some time. I originally intended to get the wood stained one but they discontinued it. I thought maybe the other one would suffer the same fate and I didn't want to miss out.
It has three drawers on each side and each table top flips up (or down) so I have more storage and more options if I need the floor space. It's small in here so that's important. You might be wondering about all the bits and bobs on the table. I have been busy working on stuff for the Glitterfest so I have a lot of stuff laying around, pondering them and thinking about how I will put the various pieces together and what will go with what.
I am getting closer to doing something with the little legs.
I really love those and think they would look fine with a beaded skirt.
And then there are all these pieces of this and that:
But I have some finished pieces ready for the show, too and I will pull a few things out to tease you with. Like this necklace:
And I finished a bracelet the other night. It is made of silk and cotton ribbon and has a beaded strip with Paris written into the beadwork:
But my favorite part of this piece is definitely the button:
There I go again with the alien thing! But isn't that an excellent button?
And there's another Paris piece that has this fine stone flower with pearls spilling from it:
And a little beaded bottle filled with jewels:
There are more bottles, components actually, which I call The Magpie's Magic Vials:
So much fun working on these pieces and especially mixed media, which I really love. I'm very happy to be getting back to that and getting ready for the show.
But this post started out showing off my new table. And again, it's hard to believe what a difference a piece of furniture can make. But it does. A nice big, beautiful studio like the ones they show in Where Women Create would be wonderful. But that's not what I have here. What I do have is cozy and extremely well organized. And it's getting nicer all the time.
I came across a picture of your Sun vessel and immediately fell in love with your work and had to investigate further. You are an amazing artist; I can't wait to see how the legs turn out.
