Well, well, well.
Again, I disappeared for the week. And again, I said I was going to post on Monday. Well, no excuses and no apologies, that is just the way this week has gone. It has been a very good week though. Last Sunday was the Central California Bead Society show and I have to say I had a great time. The show was well organized and well attended, sales were good and it was just plain ol' fun! A big thank you to everyone that came by my table!
Here is a photo of where I was set up, including my table:
Here is a closer shot of my table:
I had purchased some new shelves (used but new to me) a few months ago. I felt my table needed more height and this was the first show where I got to use them. I was very pleased with how they looked and also with how perfect they were for displaying my samples.
Kandra was also at the show, selling her beautiful beads. This is a photo of her with her husband Dennis and friend Sandy Spivey, who was selling her beautiful cabs. Sandy does the newsletter for the Bead Society and a great job, I think!
Again, it was a great show!
And now you may be wondering about the second part of the title of this post. My friend, Irene, the owner of The Garden of Beaden in Upland had a trunk show yesterday with artist Lisa Loria yesterday. She does very beautiful repurposed jewelry. She has planned to close this aspect of her work to focus on other media, so I was very happy to attend her trunk show and get a few of her wonderful pieces for myself. Here is a photo of Lisa by her table of treasures:
Lisa also does some very cool things with doll heads. If you look closely, you will see one atop one of her displays. I first met her at Glitterfest this past May and I believe she will be at the next Glitterfest next Saturday so if you are in the area, you will definitely want to attend this very fun event.
And now, I would like to show you the beautiful things I bought from Lisa. Here is a necklace and a bracelet:
I thought the necklace would look great with a white t-shirt and jeans. The bracelet actually matches a piece I did a few years ago and I could see the two pieces being worn together.
I also bought a pair of very cool earrings:
These earrings have wonderful movement. And I am especially attracted to the color of the bead caps and chain. They will look good with everything!
So those two events were the highlight of my week. I have been working especially hard this week and hope to have a couple new kit colors to add to the kit store soon. There will be a new color of Kaleidoscope and also a new Beaded Locket color, one that will look especially fine with denim. I'll keep you posted on when they are available. I have also been working with some new ideas and have been experimenting with some different media and a combination of things. Very exciting.
I have a trunk show coming up on October 30 at The Garden of Beaden! I have plans to work on some new things for this show and that is exciting. It is always thrilling to experiment and go in some new directions.
Also, I will be at the San Francisco Bead and Design Show in November!
Lots to do as you have probably guessed, but I'm very excited about both of these events. I will remind everyone as the time draws closer.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
