Hello Everyone!
I am back from what came to be an unintended blog break. Should have announced a break, I know, but really, I meant to keep up the blog when I returned.
To say I've had a bit of difficulty assimilating back into normal life is a bit of an understatement. The same routine I had before I left no longer seems to fit me quite as well. And that's a funny thing because even though the motorcycle trip was pretty much no agenda, I did develop somewhat of a routine along the way. And maybe that is a human trait, to organize daily life into sections that become our routines. But don't get the impression that I have been bored (how does that happen, anyway?) or that I find the ordinary life I came back to disappointing or lacking because such is not the case. I've been very excited to get back into my beadwork and some new things I've been working on. I've also taken time to relax a bit, sit out in the back yard and read:
The weather has been absolutely beautiful!
Asbjorn and I have gone out to some of our favorite restaurants. I took this photo as we passed through Claremont on our way back from our favorite Indian Restaurant, Koyla, in Rancho Cucamonga.
Isabel has been very happy to have me home:
I've been meeting up with friends, catching up on things since my time away. I met a friend in Old Town Orange and she took a photo of me in front of my favorite shop:
As you can see from the photo, I also decided to change my hair color. It is now a dark red. Was it the trip that made me decide? Could be. I've always thought I might like to try being a red head and just decided to go for it.
Here is a photo of the shop front:
It is Heavenly Hostess, a bit of a girly shop. They have very frilly aprons, fine things for the home as well as some fun kitschy stuff (this is where I got Mr. Bill). And I like girly shops, frilly aprons and beautiful items for dinner parties and the like. The way I see it, just because a woman rides a motorcycle doesn't mean she can't be girly. I don't have to act or dress like a man to prove that I am equal. So there.
Another thing Asbjorn and I have enjoyed is the local Farmer's Market. We have gone to one in San Dimas:
But the one in LaVerne is pretty special because they have a petting zoo, which of course, I go to.
They had a little tub with beautiful black rabbits:
Rabbits always seem to have this look that they have just done something slightly naughty and are trying to convince you that they haven't moved in hours and haven't done a thing:
Then there was the pile of little baby pigs:
Oh, they were so cute! Several people tried to pick them up but they weren't going to have any of that and would start squealing. They were sweet little animals, though.
There were some older pigs and one was trying very unsuccessfully to nurse:
As you can see, there were chickens, too but I don't think they were easy to pet.
But my favorite at the petting zoo (and why I go in there) are the goats!
There were lots of goats running around and I find them absolutely adorable, with the highest rating on the cute meter:
One thing about goats, and I can't claim to have a lot of experience with this, but if you want them to come up to you, then wear something bright and sparkly:
They were really after my purse:
But they also nibbled on my dress and shoes. Look at this sweet face:
How could anyone not like goats? If I had a farm, I would definitely have goats. And bees. Not that I am going to have a farm any time soon.
So that is what I've been up to. Just getting back into some sort of rhythm but trying not to settle into too much of one. I think such a trip brings about the desire to shake things up and it does. When you return, there is a feeling, not quite of being a bit lost, but similar in that you simply don't want to pick up where you left off and move in the same direction. I am still to discover what that direction is because I don't wish to know exactly and instead want to approach my daily life with the same wanderlust I approached the motorcycle trip. In case you are wondering, I have ridden the bike several times since my return; my love of riding is stronger than ever. Sometimes, I just can't believe how wonderful and fun it is to be on a motorcycle.
So now, I intend to continue my blogging, hopefully on a daily basis but I can't promise anything. I guess there is no telling what I might do next!
I hope everyone has a wonderful start to their weekend!
