I thought I would start this post with a photo I took at the Glitterfest that I think pretty much sums up the whole event.
What fun this was! This was a great show and both myself and my friend had a wonderful time. We got there early and were waiting in a line to get in. You know it's going to be fun when they come out with a tray of cookies to tide us over while we waited. And then they handed out bottles of Glitter upon entering the show.
Here is a photo I took of the room:
And another:
There were so many glittery, sparkly things that my magpie heart was all aflutter.
Talk about eye candy!
This is Bridgette Antonelli. She has had her work in the very first issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry and will be teaching her beautiful gourd necklace class at Gilding the Lily in Fullerton.
And Robin Dudley-Howes had a booth at the show. You may remember that I took an earring class with her at The Garden of Beaden. Robin also teaches at Gilding the Lily. Her booth was beautiful as was all of her work!I was all tuckered out after this fun event, which I why I am posting all this today. I took photos this morning of my purchases. I thought you might enjoying seeing what I bought. Going to a show like this is inspirational in so many ways; all the beautiful work, the incredible displays and then the bits and bobs I picked up to make stuff with.
I must be gearing up to do something big with chandelier parts because I have bought quite a few pieces lately. I also bought a metal baby doll hand and a piece of a necklace, brooch or whatever it may have originally been.
A man had a booth with all sorts of fun pieces to work with:
Sometimes, the way people use displays and packaging can be very interesting. I don't know why I got such a kick out of this, but here is a photo of the bag the man used for my purchases above:
Yes, a hot dog bag! That was very funny to me and also rather clever I thought.
From another vendor I bought optometrist lenses and she wrapped them in this:
Since I sew, at first I cringed when I saw she was using a pattern. Then I convinced myself it was a pattern from the 70's (which should not only never be sewn into anything but should also never be worn) so it was ok.
Here are a few other things I bought; some velvet leaves, a little plastic ballerina, some buttons (did I need more buttons? I say yes!) and some frozen Charlottes:
Then there is this curious little tin that I just couldn't pass up:
What am I going to do with that, you may ask? Well, I actually do have a plan and yes, it will be humorous.
Before I post the last photo, I thought I should, perhaps, explain the plate I used to display the purchases. It has the word Ost on it. Ost is Norwegian for cheese. So next time you have your photo taken be sure to say Ost!
And now for the last photo.
How could I pass up this little beauty?
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
