Where have I been, you may have wondered.
Sanibel Island, Florida!
Well, I was there for only a week and I realize that it has been quite a while since I posted but you must know by now how time gets away from me.
I went with a group of wonderful, very talented ladies, fellow beaders and friends and had a truly wonderful time. If you have never been to Sanibel Island, it is known as the shelling capital of the world. And I did find some really nice shells.
This is the beach near the condo where we stayed:
The water was such a beautiful color!
One day we hired a couple of boats to take us out shelling.
Here is Gary, the captain of the boat I was on:
In this photo we have just set out. As you can see, the skies were a bit ominous. It was also quite chilly, which you can't see from the photo, but trust me, it was cold.
We went to an island where the shelling is supposed to be the best.
Here is another of the island:
Look at all the driftwood! Wouldn't you love some of that? Too bad it was too big to carry on an airplane. But I did find some nice shells. And that reminds me that I haven't taken a photo of them yet. They are sitting outside in the sunshine to dry out completely so I'll try to get to that. I usually don't do too well on boats, but these were small and I enjoyed every second of it.
Here is another on the beach by the condo:
Now you may find this hard to believe, but while we were there, we found a bead shop! Yes, it's true! We went to The Sanibel Bead Shop. In fact, we ended up going there three times! It was a nice little shop and the owner, Lily Rose, carried a lot of different things. Which means that I found several items I could not live without.
Well now, doesn't that look like fun! Here is a photo of Kim Stathis, Liz Smith and myself at the shop.
So that's where I was! It truly was a wonderful vacation. Thank you to the wonderful ladies that I spent the week with; you made it a fantastic vacation.
Now that I am back, I am trying to get caught up on some projects that have been sitting around a while. It has felt very good to get some of these done.
In the next few days, I hope to post about the things I bought at the bead shop as well as the shells I found.
I hope everyone has had a great week and has a fun weekend planned!
