I said I would probably take my new camera out and I did. Wednesday evening. I'm just now getting to the photos. Anyway, I took a walk around where I live, walked into town and took photos along the way.
This is a photo taken along San Dimas Avenue, that goes into town:
Don't know if you can see them, but there's a huge bunch of cactus along the hill there.
Here is another photo, just up the street. It is always much cooler through here with all the trees.
Now I have arrived into town, about 1/2 to 3/4 mile. Here is an old house the town is restoring, The Walker House:
I think they are putting a big ol' pile of money into this one. It is beautiful. I think it's going to be a restaurant among other things.
Here I have gone into town, on Bonita Ave:
Don't you just love the wood plank sidewalks? It's very Gunsmoke.
Here is the Early Ford Store:
You can always see some cool cars and trucks here.
Here is the local Italian restaurant. We go here often. When the weather is warm, we love sitting outside to eat. That's one thing that I love about California, for most of the year, you can sit outside for dinner.
And here is the local diner style restaurant, Roady's. This restaurant has, without a doubt, the very best tuna salad sandwich IN THE WORLD. I kid you not. The best. In the world. Next time you find yourself in San Dimas, you will have to stop by and order one up.
And here is Sid, enjoying the great weather outside his gourmet food, wine and cigar shop. He informed me he is running for city council, so good luck Sid!
Turning back into a bit of an alley that runs between Sid's shop and the optical shop, there is a tea shop:
I haven't been to the tea shop yet but keep thinking that I will. I should do this and not just think about it. Why do we do so much of that? Since I had a proper afternoon tea in London, I am curious about this tea shop and how it might differ but also how it might be similar. I have been told of another tea shop in Pasadena. But that will be for another day.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of where I live. Both my husband and I really love it here. It's quiet and peaceful. I enjoy the old town section. We try to frequent the shops here as much as we can. Hmm, so that means I better put on a fine hat and get myself to that tea shop!
Since it is Friday, my favorite day of the week, I hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend!
Later on that day:
I got the frames for the Fragments variation covered in Peyote Stitch. I haven't stitched together the corners yet or done anything else to them. This is going to be a fairly large pendant so I think I will make a long strap for it. I could have cut the photos down to make smaller pieces but it just wouldn't have been the same. I think I would have regretted it. The space around the woman adds to the story for me. I get a sense of her sitting in a studio posing. I can't help but imagine that she knows the photographer; she seems so at ease. When I look at this photo, I feel like in between the pictures being taken, there was a conversation between them. To have cut the photos down would have cut away the story as well.
So, here is what I have so far:
And just for fun, here is a photo of my bead table, where it all happens. It's a very small table, actually. But have I sewn a lot of beads together here! I have the curtain closed this time of day. The sun comes around to this side and is too bright otherwise.
So there you have it! Have a nice weekend!
