I had some errands to run today and one of them was to check out a new camera. I really love my Nikon D-70 but it's a little large and unwieldy to carry around all the time. I thought that if I got one of those really small Nikon cameras (I'm extremely loyal to Nikon, having used them for over 20 years), I might be more apt to take photos when I'm out and about. So I stopped by Powell Camera in Covina and ended up buying a Nikon Coolpix. Powell's is a very nice shop, very friendly and knowledgeable.
After purchasing my camera, I went to one of my favorite coffee shops, La Tazza, off Citrus in Covina. Here is a photo of the outside:
Yes, it's very quaint, but wait until you see the inside.
Here is another view:
If I owned a coffee shop, this is exactly what I would want it to look like inside. They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and have great soups! I just had a mocha, which was very fine. These photos are all taken with the new camera. I'm pleased with it so far and think I will enjoy having a small camera to play around with.
On to something else here, though.
I have been thinking about doing a variation of the Fragments pendant. Fragments is a double sided pendant like this:
I was at an antique shop in LaVerne a few months ago and found some old photos. There was a particular set of three that I really liked and had the idea to turn into a variation of Fragments. Here is the photo series:
Since there are three and I really like them all, I thought I would try a three sided Fragments pendant. I just love the progression of these photos; first without the hat and coat, then with the hat and coat and then turned to another angle. Above the photo are the beads I am planning to use. I kept seeing purples with this, sort of aged looking, not a bright vibrant purple. I have steel and grey as well. Really, I won't know whether they actually work until I start to put it together. These photos are wider than the normal one inch slide, so I will probably cut down some of the 2x3 slides that I have. I will keep you posted on the progress of this one.
Well, that's all for today. I have a feeling I'll want to go out and play with the new camera tomorrow, so more posts could be coming up.
